I believe we have found a solution.
For some reason it seems the plugin doesn't install/behave correctly on CentOS6. Take a look here: http://ask.ocsinventory-ng.org/3897/ocs-inventory-2-2-cant-send-plugin-data-on-database - plugit's answer appears to work for us.
Specifically, manually copying the relevant section from the plugin's APACHE/Map.pm file into /usr/local/share/perl/5.20.2/Apache/Ocsinventory/Map.pm has allowed it to work for us.
